Azure or a direct OpenAI integration?

Two integrations can serve similar tasks while creating different responsibilities for your team. Compare the environment you need to operate, not just the name of the model.

01

List the non-negotiables

Write down required regions, data handling, model features, rate limits, and organizational controls. Confirm each requirement against current service documentation. Test the exact model and deployment you would use in production.

02

Account for the surrounding stack

Include authentication, monitoring, networking, support, and deployment work. An existing Azure setup may change the operational cost. A direct API may fit a simpler application. Neither choice is automatically the better value.

03

Match credits to the service

Confirm whether the offered balance pays for the chosen API or deployment. Azure credits and an OpenAI API balance are separate billing assets. Compare current rates and credit restrictions before deciding on a transfer or a new commitment.
