Claude through Bedrock, or direct?

The model is only part of the decision. Identity, billing, regional requirements, and your existing cloud operations can matter just as much as a token rate.

01

Check the actual model

Confirm the model version, region, features, and throughput available on each route. Run representative requests through both paths. Don't assume matching names mean every feature and limit is identical.

02

Include the operational fit

A team already working inside AWS may value shared billing and access controls. A direct integration may suit a team that wants the provider's native interface. Price those operational benefits alongside development and maintenance work.

03

Make the credit math explicit

Check whether your particular cloud or API balance covers the chosen service. Compare the net bill after eligible credits, not just the public rate. Keep expiry, service exclusions, and future standard billing visible in the decision.
